Why America Hates Tim Tebow

Kopp Disclosure
(John 3:19-21)

While I'm not the kinda guy to say I told you so, I kinda told ya so right here to expect an upset of Biblical proportions during the first weekend of the NFL playoffs.

To quote John Belushi in Animal House, "Holy...!"

It was a David-over-Goliath-virgin-birth-resurrection-of-the-dead kinda upset!

Nobody, except, uh, you know who, gave TT and the Broncos a snowball's chance in...

I guess the angel was right: "Nothing is impossible with God."

Or as my son Daniel, a Steelers diehard, said during and after the game, "Well, if people don't believe in God and miracles after this..."

Of course, next up for TT and the sacrificial lambs are Pharaoh and the mighty Egyptians, uh, I mean BB and NE.

    It's gonna take a creation-of-the-universe kinda...

    O.K., I confess.

I want the miracles to continue to force America to deal with what we've seemed to ignore/insult/abandon in recent days to our increasingly obvious demise.

    Salt stings to save.

@#$%

BTW, while I still pick the Packers to win the second of three consecutive Super Bowls, EEEEEEEllllllllliiiiiii's Cooooooomin'!

If I were a Packers fan, I'd be a tad nervous right now.

    2008.

@#$%

Getting back to the worst QB in the history of professional football according to Kiper and his never-played-the-game experts only contradicted by guys like Dungy and Gruden and Bradshaw and current/former players who actually know what they're talking about because Kiperetes like the size of the dog in the fight more than the fight in the dog, why do people hate him so much?

Just look at the picture: Tebowing.

    Now read Matthew 10.

    It's pretty simple.

It's the same reason why America wants to continue to be led by a secularist in the White House.

BBPBHO is a mirror reflection of America's current non-belief weltanschauung.

C'mon, even if you like him which I do even though I'd like to vote for somebody else if the GOP had anybody worth the exchange right now because just because somebody's a nice guy/gal doesn't make her/him qualified for the big job, don't be defensive/offensive.

    BBPBHO is a secularist.

You know a tree by its...

So America will keep him in charge because that's what/where America wants/is.

And that's the same reason why TT is the most reviled athlete in the history of the NFL.

    He ain't in the mainstream.

C'mon, why do you think so many people are so unnerved, freaked out, apoplectic, and otherwise disjointed by Tebowing?

Why don't you see such expressions of outrage/shock/dismay/horror over end zone dances and celebrations and gesturing and posturing and...?

    Deal with it.

BBPBHO is exactly who/what America wants because he is a mirror reflection of most people in America 2012.

TT is exactly who/what America doesn't want because he is not a mirror reflection of most people in America 2012.

As a dad, I'd like TT to be a role model for my sons rather than...

    It's a Psalm 101 thing.

And it's much, much, much more important/eternal than football.

    Go Broncos!

Dear Bob,
I only glance at the sports pages to see what Tim Tebow is doing!!
A 80 yard touchdown pass in first overtime!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even I understand that!!!!!!
P.S. Once a month or so, explain " BBPBHO," I keep forgetting and it is so good!!

You say secular, I say depraved, as in "There are way too many depraved nut-jobs out there for it to be safe for the Broncos to make it to the Super Bowl." In other words, with so much hate aimed at Tebow for dragging an 8-8 team into the playoffs, and then having the temerity to defeat the Steelers and their un-convicted rapist qb, I genuinely fear that there are people who would rather see Tebow dead, than holding up the Lombardi Trophy. Of course, Tebow himself would probably be willing to take a bullet for the team, not that I am projecting any messianic hopes in his direction. So, while part of me would like to see the Bronks win-out, even if it meant knocking off the Jints in SB XLV-whatever, another part of me hopes that Denver will lose this week or next for no other reason than the safety of Mr. Tebow.

The problem is, with Tebow on the field, it's no longer, just a football game, it's holy warfare playing out before our eyes as a bold child of light comes under very public attack.

Unfortunately, brother, I agree with you.

I had a conversation with a friend over TT and it went something like this......

She said...."we need more to stand up and do more praying"
and I said

when someone "stands down" like this, kneels, everyone notices and everyone did.
Maybe no one likes TT because it shames those who pray secretly......and those who are ashamed to get on their knees before God.

Right on, sister!

Let me say upfront, I hope that Denver meets the 49er's so we...SF... can clean their clocks.

Now I'm not anti TT. In fact, I'd agree with brother Kopp that he's not mainstream. It's just that SF has always been my team not only int he wonderful 80's but long before through the miserable 60's and during this previous rebuilding generation. Go Alex Smith and may God have mercy on my soul...

If the Giants make it and the Broncos make it, well, brother, I'm gonna be with you!

Bruce,

It's a, uh, ride!

BBPBHO is Big Brother President Barack Hussein Obama!

Maybe some of us have actually read our Bibles.

Dr. Robert R. Kopp said...

Geez, friend. Text in context. Take a look at Matthew 5:13-16. Remember, TT is a brother. Save your fire for others.

You're the one who says anyone who thinks that such displays during a stupid, silly game is "secular" and such people "hate" Tebow. Another commenter says "depraved" and you agree. Start reading your Bible and practice what you preach.

Excellent post, Robert. It is great to see someone like Tim Tebow who doesn't back down from his faith in spite of criticism. Thanks, too, for pointing Anonymous to the bigger picture. We are commanded to let our light shine, and to go and make disciples of all nations. There is a tension between Mt. 5:16 & 6:6 (showing vs. hiding piety). I once heard, "When tempted to hide, show; when tempted to show, hide" as the way to settle this. Presbyterians tend to do too much hiding. We should support those who don't mind shining and taking the heat. Blessings.

Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. You just make me want to sing, "We are one in the..." Lighten up, dude!

Dr. Robert R. Kopp said...

It just hit me!

"Anonymous" must be the recipient of the steeple that...

Ah, I get the irony!

You are writing anonymously/ironically because of John 3:19-21; knowing that anonymity ain't exactly convicted and courageous but more akin to cowardly terrorists who hide behind white sheets and...

Ouch!

I've learned three things over the years about anonymity:
(1) Don't waste your time in reading 'em if they ain't got the guts to stand by 'em;
(2) Don't get into tinkling contests with skunks; and
(3) Trying to be rational with the irrational is illogical.

On the other hand, you've probably hated moi for so long and just felt it safest to shoot from the hip in/from the, uh, dark.

Man up, dude!

Dr. Robert R. Kopp said...

Mike,

Thanks, brother, I needed that!

I'm anonymous because I know how you liberals hound anyone who doesn't agree with you. Funny, you ignore the Bible, so you ignore someone quoting the Word you don't like. So sad for someone who is supposed to be a preacher, but that's the way the church is going these days.

You should read the Bible, its very clear there. Dismiss me all you want, but don't dismiss God's Word!

Dr. Robert R. Kopp said...

Ah, c'mon, brother! Why do you want to fight? Here's the funny part; and I'm really hoping my liberal fans read your comment to comment on it. Obviously, fact not fightin' words, you haven't been reading KDs very long and don't know me at all because I ain't exactly the darling of the liberal world. Truth is I'm kinda infamous for saying, "Mainline denominations are irretrievably apostate under current management." I love 'em like I love you; but the mainline churches have detoured damningly from Biblical Christianity to something more related to their loins than the Lord. Or something like that. Truth is I don't consider myself to be liberal or conservative. I have no clue about that kinda crap anymore. I'm just someone who loves Jesus and prays and labors to love like Jesus. I thank you for pointing out how screwed up I am which I know which causes me to praise Him even more for His grace and forgiveness. Oh, uh, BTW, what's that I see in your eye? Sorry. I'm sure you're a good guy who just has decided to damn me because, well, uh, whatever. Love to take you for coffee sometime and pray with you. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnddd I can't wait until all of my liberal fans respond to your conclusion about moi. It will be apocalyptic! Oh, yeah, go Broncos!

Whew.

That was rambling.

Long day.

That's enough.

I'm sure there other websites that will be more of whatever you need.

Blessings and Love!
