Fair and Balanced Reporting

Beware of unfair and imbalanced pulpiteers, pewsitters, politicians, professors, and anyone else tempting you to get into, uh, uh, uh,...tinkling contests with 'em.

It's hard to take...seriously...anyone from the left who has nothing good to say about anyone from the right.

It's hard to take...seriously...anyone from the right who has nothing good to say about anyone from the left.

    Example.

People from the left who won't even entertain the current President being less than pure and perfect in every way are unfair and imbalanced....or totally whacked.

People from the right who won't even entertain the current President may not be as good as his momma says but can't be as awful as talking heads on the right rant are unfair and imbalanced...or totally whacked.

    Another example.

People who think "the prophet" was pure and perfect in every way are unfair and imbalanced.

People who think "the prophet" is the model for jihadist terrorism are...

    O.K., there are exceptions to...

    Touchy, touchy, touchy!

    C'mon now!

If you can say bad things about Jesus, you gotta be willing to entertain our concerns about you juxtaposed to the first few of the big ten.

You gotta wonder about religionists who are so fragile about their religion that they can't take a joke - not to mention inquiries about...

It's like I learned from some nuns: "If you're right, you don't need to argue; and if you're wrong, you can't afford to argue."

Getting back to the caution about unfair and imbalanced..., I learned two things from two women in the first church that I kinda pastored while in seminary.

Parenthetically, I know it's PC to pretend they weren't both women...or bring up another story using a guy...or lie and say one was a guy...but, well, uh, these two stories are, uh, related to women...and that's just the way it, uh, was...

    Psst.

Truth is most mainline denominations are run by women anyway anymore; so there are more good, bad, ugly, and otherwise examples of/from 'em than guys.

    Deal with it.

Stop rationalizing or defending or...acting like a mindless PC drone with two feet planted in the air.

When it is/was a guy, I'll talk about him.

When it is/was about a woman, I'll talk about her.

Now go back to the video above.

Really, if you're that PC about this kinda stuff, you may be one of those unfair and imbalanced...

@#$%

An old, extraordinarily traditional by admission, regular attendee, and generous supporter of the church who asked me to baptize her Scottish Terrier - No, I didn't! - always told me how great I was/am, was/am doing, and how she couldn't understand why the church wasn't packed on Sundays to hear the glorious stuff being fed into me for others by...

    I loved it.

Of course, even back then, I knew it wasn't true in a Romans 7 kinda way.

Buuuuuuut I always had time to see and listen to her lie to me.

@#$%

An old, extremely traditional by demand, irregular attendee, and total cheapskate whose house must have been the forerunner for those current reality shows about hoarding always told me how awful I was/am, was/am doing, and how she couldn't wait until I moved or, by not so subtle inference, died.

    I hated it.

Of course, even back then, I knew it wasn't all true in a Romans 8 kinda way.

Sooooooo I always did my best/worst - You decide! - to avoid her.

@#$%

People who are always positive - except when talking about Jesus' ultimate eschatological victory - are unfair and imbalanced; or, uh, living in California, Colorado, or Washington.

    Wink.

People who are always negative - except when talking about original sin and why we need Jesus to share in His ultimate eschatological victory - are unfair and imbalanced; or, uh, sitting in the stands at Wrigley Field in late September.

    Wink.

    Now read Matthew 10:16...

Since nearly all, well, alright, all, of us are imbalanced, as in out of kilter to greater or lesser degrees due to the working of sin in/on us, would we recognize/accept anyone from whose mouth came only that which was fair/balanced, and true? I mean, wasn't/isn't that Jesus? And we gave Him a cross to hang on because we simply couldn't tolerate God's fair and balanced, and true Word to us/the world.

I'm just saying...

Bob,
We will always be imbalanced until the Holy Spirit is allowed to bring balance. He is the equalizer!
