Does This Prayer Sadden/Outrage You?

"O Jerusalem, O America, O PCUSA, O..."

Something happened at the General Assembly meeting of the PCUSA (6/18-25, 2016 in Portland, Oregon) symbolizing a denomination irretrievably apostate under current management.

Wajidi Said, representing the Portland Muslim Community as part of the "first order of business" in the opening plenary session of the 222nd GA, prayed.

He began, "Allah bless us and bless our families and bless our Lord.  Lead us on the straight path - the path of all the prophets: Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad.  Peace be upon them all.  Amen."

He continued, "In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful, let us praise the Lord.  The creator of the universe, the most merciful, the most compassionate and the Lord of the universe who has created us and made us into nations and tribes, from male and females that we may know each other, not that we might despise each other, or may despise each other.  Incline towards peace and justice and trust in God, for the Lord is one that hears and knows everything and the servants of God, the most compassionate, the most merciful, gracious are those who walk in the earth in humility and when bigots and hateful and Islamaphobes address them, they say peace.  Peace be upon them and peace be upon Allah."

    What?

    Help me, Jesus!

Can anyone interpret that dark glossolalia pour moi?

    Does that prayer sadden/outrage you?

If not, you are ignorant, deceived, defiant, or part of the anti-Christ conspiracy to destroy...

If not, the Decalogue is quaint for you.

If not, you have joined the increasing majority of the ignorant, deceived, defiant, or conspiratorial who have re-imagined the answer to the first question of The Shorter Catechism of the early 17th century: "What is our chief end?  Our chief end is to horrify God and annoy Him forever."

Allowing that prayer to help cover a meeting of people who still dare to call themselves Christians after so much enabled, accommodated, ingested, and barfed apostasy insults the holiness of God and Christendom according to over 2K years of Biblical, historical, traditional, confessional, constitutional, and common sense Christianity.

Allowing that prayer symbolizes a denomination irretrievably apostate under current management.

    Oh, yeah.

    There was an apology.

    It was weak.

    Insincere.

Nobody who loves Jesus by the book bought it.

O.K., call me insensitive...rude...a bully...for bringing this up.

    Really.

Is that how you handle apostasy?

Is that how you handle insults to God's holiness and the Savior of your soul?

All of that kinda distraction is a smokescreen for clergy in mainline denominations who didn't understand what it means to be a Biblical Christian when they were ordained...or lied because they wanted to be an ecclesiastical social worker in vestments...or changed their minds since ordination and don't have the integrity to quit.

    O.K.

If I am wrong - and don't bother to use any frame of reference other than Jesus, Holy Scripture, and common sense - please tell me so I may confess publicly and ask God's help to repent.

Well, at least on the corner of Lincoln and Main as mirrored in the remnant Church throughout America and the world, we're remaining Matthew 7:24-27 firm in a Joshua 24:14-15 kinda way.

A very strong woman of faith in Belvidere who I wish would join her husband and reinforce our life and ministry on the corner of Lincoln and Main told me that she may be feeling called to shatter the sound of silence about a very, very, very evil enterprise in our neck of the woods.

I warned her in a Matthew 10 and John 10 kinda way.

I also told her that if called against dark conspiracies, she will have to do it...or be unsettled for the rest of her life.

I told her that obedience is blessed...sooner or later...usually sooner than later...and definitely in the end.

See the Beatitudes of Matthew 5.

If you are saddened/outraged by the insults to God's holiness and Savior Jesus, you have choices.

You can shatter the sound of silence.

You can salt, shine, and leavenate.

You can look up, stand up, speak up, and act up for Jesus.

    Or not.

But as we look at what's becoming of our world, America and her churches, and everything else, I don't think ostriches are what He has in mind.

Exceptional America in Peril

Exceptional America in Peril

America is an exceptional nation under God.

Anyone who does not get that is ignorant, deceived, or defiant.

     America is in peril.

Anyone who does not see that is ignorant, deceived, or defiant.

Americans no longer have the luxury of their made-up religions and separating denominational distinctions as the call of His high priestly prayer for unity in, through, and for Him becomes more convincing, compelling, and commanding.

Anyone who does not get that is ignorant, deceived, defiant, or part of the conspiracy to destroy America.

His call from Genesis through Revelation is more urgent than ever before: “Return to Me and I will restore you.  If not, not!”

Exceptional America is in peril and we can pray and do something about it.

“Long may our land be bright with freedom’s holy light; Protect us by Thy might, Great God, our King!”

I often pray that for America.

     I know you do too.

America began with such strength because it understood its strength as a blessing from Him – endowed by our Creator.

Though it was a relatively recent addition to the job description, our founders understood our strength in the Founder – one nation under God.

So we sing, “God bless America!  Land that I love!  Stand beside her and guide her through the night with a light from above!”

I often pray that for America.

     I know you do too.

And in recent years, I’ve added a line: “America, bless God!”

I’m increasingly concerned about America’s drift from its Founder.

I’m increasingly concerned about America’s leadership not even giving lip service to Him anymore.

I’m increasingly concerned about a justice system that increasingly overlooks justice as identified, exemplified, and explained in Holy Scripture.

I’m increasingly concerned about a country that is losing its unity amid its rainbow-colored diversity because it seems to be forgetting, as the Imperials sang, “There will never be any peace until God is seated at the conference table.”

I’m concerned about that Bible promise/warning, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.”

Then there’s the popular but hardly heeded truth: “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

As one of our continuing adult education classes is studying, Jesus framed it so positively with His promise, “Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and everything will be just fine.”

I can get really down every once in a while about where America’s not headed anymore.

     Get it?

That exchange in Genesis 18 between Abraham and God comes to mind.

God’s patience with people has run out and He decides to end it all.

Abraham pleads, “Will you destroy the righteous with the wicked?  What if there are 50…?”

And you remember how it goes back and forth and back and forth until we realize there’s not even 10...

     Sodom and Gomorrah are destroyed.

And another voice, Ruth Bell Graham’s comes to mind, “If God does not bring judgment upon America soon, He will have to apologize...”

Of course, PTL, there’s still time for America, “If my people...”

There is a very strong and powerful remnant in America that is praying, “Long may our land...God bless America...America, bless God!”

And I believe it is the faithful remnant’s intercessions for America and involvement in drawing America back to Him that has prompted our Lord to give more time to us to get His act back together again.

Truth is God is so incredibly forgiving.

He’s always giving second and third and...chances.

As Paul told Timothy, “God wants everybody to be saved.”

And while the Bible says the ultimate judgment will come, ready or not, there’s still time right now.

     How much?

     I don’t know.

But the fact that we’re still here means there’s still time.

     “Long may our land...”

     “God bless America...America, bless God!”

     It’s the only way.

     He’s the only way.
