Exceptional America in Peril
America is an exceptional nation under God.
Anyone who does not get that is ignorant, deceived, or defiant.
America is in peril.
Anyone who does not see that is ignorant, deceived, or defiant.
Americans no longer have the luxury of their made-up religions
and separating denominational distinctions as the call of His high priestly
prayer for unity in, through, and for Him becomes more convincing, compelling,
and commanding.
Anyone who does not get that is ignorant, deceived, defiant, or
part of the conspiracy to destroy America.
His call from Genesis through Revelation is more urgent than
ever before: “Return to Me and I will restore you. If not, not!”
Exceptional America is in peril and we can pray and do something
about it.
“Long may our land be bright with freedom’s holy light; Protect
us by Thy might, Great God, our King!”
I often pray that for America.
I know you do too.
America began with such strength because it
understood its strength as a blessing from Him – endowed by our Creator.
Though it was a relatively recent addition
to the job description, our founders understood our strength in the Founder –
one nation under God.
So we sing, “God bless America! Land that I love! Stand beside her and guide her through the
night with a light from above!”
I often pray that for America.
I know you do too.
And in recent years, I’ve added a line:
“America, bless God!”
I’m increasingly concerned about America’s
drift from its Founder.
I’m increasingly concerned about America’s
leadership not even giving lip service to Him anymore.
I’m increasingly concerned about a justice
system that increasingly overlooks justice as identified, exemplified, and explained in Holy Scripture.
I’m increasingly concerned about a country
that is losing its unity amid its rainbow-colored diversity because it seems to
be forgetting, as the Imperials sang, “There will never be any peace until God
is seated at the conference table.”
I’m concerned about that Bible
promise/warning, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any
people.”
Then there’s the popular but hardly heeded
truth: “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray
and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven
and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
As one of our continuing adult education
classes is studying, Jesus framed it so positively with His promise, “Seek
first His Kingdom and His righteousness and everything will be just fine.”
I can get really down every once in a while
about where America’s not headed anymore.
Get it?
That exchange in Genesis 18 between Abraham
and God comes to mind.
God’s patience
with people has run out and He decides to end it all.
Abraham pleads, “Will you destroy the
righteous with the wicked? What if there
are 50…?”
And you remember how it goes back and forth
and back and forth until we realize there’s not even 10...
Sodom and Gomorrah are destroyed.
And another voice, Ruth Bell Graham’s comes
to mind, “If God does not bring judgment upon America soon, He will have to
apologize...”
Of course, PTL, there’s still time for
America, “If my people...”
There is a very strong and powerful remnant
in America that is praying, “Long may our land...God bless America...America,
bless God!”
And I believe it is the faithful remnant’s
intercessions for America and involvement in drawing America back to Him that
has prompted our Lord to give more time to us to get His act back together
again.
Truth is God is so incredibly forgiving.
He’s always giving second and third
and...chances.
As Paul told Timothy, “God wants everybody
to be saved.”
And while the
Bible says the ultimate judgment will come, ready or not, there’s still time
right now.
How much?
I don’t know.
But the fact that we’re still here means
there’s still time.
“Long may our
land...”
“God bless
America...America, bless God!”
It’s the only
way.
He’s the only
way.

Well said. Jesus is the way. Also there is another way to spell way; weigh. Like you implied; both us and America are weighed in the balances and found wanting. Peder Carlson
