Who Moved?
While
what I say isn’t remotely as important as who I’m trying to honor according to
promises made at ordination on 5/8/77, I always told homiletics students as a
reminder to myself, “If it’s not worth saying twice, it’s not worth saying
once; and if it’s not worth saying once, it’s not worth saying twice.”
Redundant?
Yes.
Skinner was right on that one.
Think about it.
So while I’m going to repeat this
over and over and over again, I don’t think it can be said enough until we get
it/Him.
Remnant churches are remnant
churches because they know being remnant, the increasingly decreasing minority
in America who really pray and try to follow Jesus by the book, gets it/Him;
for as He said from Genesis to Revelation as a promise more than warning,
“Return to Me and I will restore you.”
That includes countries,
communities, churches, marriages, families, schools, and all of the below.
Recent examples of America’s
ignorance or defiance – You decide! – are plentiful; yet Illinois and Pennsylvania
Avenue seem to be among the most consistent in distancing us from the only
Savior as both, just in the last year alone, have taken the Bible out of
context to pretend God is for things that insult His holiness and won’t help
anyone now and then.
If you don’t know what I’m talking
about, you’re ignorant, deceived, or defiant.
Let me put it another way.
Metaphorically.
A wife says to her husband, “You
don’t treat me special anymore. You seem
so distant. We don’t cuddle. You don’t bring me flowers. We don’t even sit close in the car anymore.”
The husband replies, “I didn’t
move.”
“We don’t feel close to You
anymore,” America and her churches and marriages and families and schools and
all of the below say to God.
God replies, “I didn’t move.”
