I don't know why I have to keep repeating this pero, except for the Trinity, no one is pure and perfect in every way.
That's why Jesus came.
Duh.
After taking the course on original sin, I realized no one is no better nor no worse than anybody else because everybody equally needs Jesus in a Romans 3:21-26 kinda way.
With racist and religiously apostate echoes among other infidelities and oppressions/possessions from the past on the Corner of Lincoln and Main only exorcised within the last few years as a flood of the faithful came together, I have been feeling something/Someone unprecedented is about to happen on the Corner of Lincoln and Main and other Romans 1:16-17 remnantal churches to build upon the unprecedented of the last three years.
Just like it began on the CL&M with a ten part series on Revelation at the genesis of the scamdemic's hyperbole, hysteria, and histrionics, we are about to...(see attached).
Still, my undershepherding SOP remains Matthew 10:16.
And noting the preceding in paragraphs 3-7, the best exposition that I've ever read is in MLK, Jr.'s Strength to Love.
Parenthetically, I like the title because it takes strength to love...if you know what He means. You gotta sacrifice the need to be liked by everybody; which, uh, includes those on the dark side if you have that pathetic pathology. You have to have the strength to agape love even if it means an Ezekiel 2 or Matthew 10 response. Pero if you believe you're going to spend a lot longer time with Jesus than ACers in the end and you know you're damned if you do and damned if you don't which is excellent because you may as well do the righteous thing if you're gonna catch their hell anyway, you salt, shine, leavenate, and heavenate with enthusiasm and without equivocation.
Back to King on Matthew 10:16: "Jesus recognized the need for blending opposites. He knew that His disciples would face a difficult and hostile world, where they would confront the recalcitrance of the protectors of the old order. He knew that they would meet cold and arrogant men whose hearts had been hardened by the long winter of traditionalism. So He said to them, 'Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves.' And He gave them a formula for action: 'Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.'"
He goes on: "We must combine the toughness of the serpent and the softness of the dove, a tough mind and a tender heart."
He explains, "There is little hope for us until we become toughminded enough to break loose from the shackles of prejudice, half-truths, and downright ignorance. The shape of the world today does not permit us the luxury of softmindedness. A nation or a civilization that continues to produce softminded men purchases its own spiritual death on an installment plan...But we must not stop with the cultivation of a tough mind. The gospel also demands a tender heart. Toughmindedness without tenderheartedness is cold and detached."
Recognizing the need to have a serpent's vigilance and readiness to strike predators to save targeted prey and a dove's discernment that there are people in this world that really want to love Jesus by loving like Jesus with grace, mercy, and forgiveness wrapped in agape, King concludes, "Jesus reminds us that the good life combines the toughness of the serpent and the tenderness of the dove. To have serpentlike qualities devoid of dovelike qualities is to be passionless, mean, and selfish. To have dovelike without serpentlike qualities is to be sentimental, anemic, and aimless. We must combine strongly marked antitheses."
Selah.
As my faithfully bravehearted brother Brian Phillips, Lead Pastor of the The Grove, is always reminding wimpy pastors whenever he has the chance, we are now in an eschatological as well as existential war for souls in America and around the globe.
There are many wolves in sheep's clothing in media, entertainment, elementary and secondary education, courtrooms, classrooms, churches, colleges, universities, seminaries, government, politics, pulpits and pews; masquerading as followers of Jesus to steal souls, destroy our exceptional republic with a Constitution and Bill of Rights rooted in the Bible, and ruin the joy and happiness that God wants for us in time and forever.
There are sleeper cells of...go back to paragraph 7...that Jude warned us about.
So if you want to stand strong here, now, and forever, stand with Jesus.
Look up, stand up, speak up, and act up for Jesus.
Salt.
Shine.
Leavenate.
Heavenate.
You will be glad you did, Jesus will smile on your efforts to invite and welcome and include, and more will be saved from being left behind in the end.
